## What are manual bids and max bids? - FAQ - Support

On Budi, you can choose between two ways to place bids: **max bids** and **manual bids**. Here we explain the difference.

---

### Max bid

With a max bid, you enter the highest amount you are willing to pay. The bidding engine then raises your bid automatically - always according to the applicable **bid increment**, using the smallest possible increase - up to your maximum amount.

Your max bid is hidden from other bidders. They only see the current leading bid.

Bids placed automatically by the bidding engine are marked with ![](https://www.budi.se/static/img/icons/a-letter.svg) in the history.

> **Note!** A max bid is sometimes called an "autobid" on other auction platforms.

### Manual bid

With a manual bid (also called a "direct bid"), you enter an exact amount that is shown immediately as the leading bid. There is no automatic bidding and no hidden amounts.

You must monitor the auction yourself and raise your bid if someone outbids you. You cannot lower a manual bid.

Manual bids are available on items where the bid increment is at least SEK 500.

| **Automatic bidding** | Yes | No |
| **Hidden maximum amount** | Yes | No |
| **Can be lowered** | Yes (down to the visible bid) | No |

---

### Which should I choose?

- Choose **max bid** if you do not want to monitor the auction and want the bidding engine to handle the bidding for you.
- Choose **manual bid** if you want full control and to know exactly how much you are bidding.
