On this day, 2021-01-31, the following policy has been established for Budi AB, hereinafter referred to as Budi.
The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance to all of Budi's employees on how sustainability work shall be conducted and the values Budi stands for. Our ambition at Budi is that sustainability work shall have a clear connection to our business operations and the value-creating processes within the company. We are convinced that sustainability goes hand in hand with profitability for both Budi and our customers.
Budi's guiding principle is to actively and responsibly contribute to sustainable development by conducting its business operations in a manner that upholds Budi's values, shows respect for people, society and the environment/natural resources. Budi's core values are:
Budi promotes sustainable development and a circular economy by ensuring that products and consumer goods are reused rather than discarded. 100% of Budi's sales lead to an extended product life cycle. By making decisions that fairly balance the claims of various stakeholders, Budi shall contribute to sustainable development and take responsibility for shared economic, social and environmental aspects in its surroundings. Budi's stakeholders with regard to responsible business include customers, owners, employees, partners, suppliers, the environment and society (including civil society and the public sector), as well as other stakeholders affected by the business.
Budi has defined the following key principles for responsible business, rooted in the UN Global Compact initiative, within the area of sustainability:
The strategic direction for Budi's sustainability work shall be determined by the board of directors, based on management's strategic planning and business planning processes. Management plans and carries out follow-ups of the sustainability work. Sustainability reporting shall take place annually, in connection with the annual report.
For Budi, it is a fundamental principle to conduct responsible operations with a sound and balanced economy. The company avoids financial decisions that involve risks to the company's long-term survival.
Budi values honesty, openness and high ethical standards in all business relationships. Our employees keep their promises and regard both customers and suppliers as important partners who shall be treated with respect. Naturally, Budi actively combats all forms of bribery, inducements and corruption that could affect business relationships.
In the market, Budi promotes fair, honest and open competition and observes good marketing practice. The company's information to the market shall be clear, transparent and never intentionally misleading.
Budi shall proactively strive to reduce environmental and health-related risks from its operations and the products and services the company provides. Both by preventing the generation of pollution and minimising negative environmental impact.
Budi shall be a good corporate citizen. We believe in the equal value of all people and that everyone shall be treated equally regardless of background and gender. We shall respect human rights, reject corruption, bribery and inducements, as well as money laundering. Budi shall also strive to promote good health and well-being regardless of whether for employees, customers, owners or other stakeholders. Budi supports projects around the world that contribute to making life better for people. The company shall not make direct or indirect contributions to political parties or political organisations.
Budi shall comply with applicable legislation and international conventions in the markets in which the company operates. The company shall comply with environmental legislation, agreements, safety requirements and other binding requirements and regulations.
Budi shall influence suppliers to promote sustainable development. Shared sustainability goals shall be formulated with suppliers. The company shall formulate environmental requirements that shall apply to its own operations as well as in the procurement of goods and services.
All employees at Budi shall be treated with respect and with their integrity maintained. Budi shall, within the scope of its employer responsibility, ensure a good organisational and social working environment and a safe and secure workplace. In addition, processes shall be created to stimulate employees' ideas and initiative. We shall promote a good work-life balance for the company's employees by, among other things, offering flexible working hours. Clear and well-communicated guidelines and policies regarding equality and diversity shall be in place. Budi shall support and encourage employees' community engagement. Emphasis shall be placed on promoting employees' health and well-being. We shall allocate resources for employees' professional development and skills building.
At Budi, the customer relationship and customers' needs shall always be at the centre. Transparency, dialogue and clarity shall characterise our relationships with customers. Complaint handling and customer support shall be efficient, thorough and carried out with care. We strive for high quality throughout the entire customer process.
Our planet has provided us with an abundance of natural resources, but we humans have not used them responsibly and are now consuming far beyond what our planet can sustain. Did you know, for example, that one-third of all food produced is thrown away? Achieving sustainable development requires that we reduce our ecological footprint by changing how we produce and consume goods and resources. Sustainable consumption means not only environmental benefits but also social and economic benefits such as increased competitiveness, growth in both local and global markets, increased employment, improved health and reduced poverty. The transition to sustainable consumption and production of goods is a necessity to reduce our negative impact on climate, the environment and human health.
Budi's business operations create the conditions for a reduced ecological footprint by changing how people consume goods and resources. We make it accessible for our customers to consume in a circular way. Furthermore, we inform our customers that they are contributing to a sustainable future when they shop from us.
Today, more than half of the world's workers are in insecure employment, often with poor pay and limited access to both education and social insurance. Over the next 20 years, the global workforce is expected to increase by 800 million people, requiring significant efforts to create new jobs that are also sustainable for people and the environment. Decent working conditions promote sustainable economic growth and are a positive force for the entire planet. We must protect workers' rights and once and for all end modern slavery, human trafficking and child labour. By creating favourable conditions for innovation and entrepreneurship, and ensuring decent working conditions for all, sustainable economic growth that includes the whole of society is promoted.
Budi's business concept inherently contributes to sustainable economic growth. Our ambition is to be an attractive employer where employees are treated with respect and decent working conditions. Budi shall, within the scope of its employer responsibility, ensure a good working environment, a safe and secure workplace.
Gender equality between women and men is a prerequisite for sustainable and peaceful development. Gender equality is about a fair distribution of power, influence and resources. All forms of violence, discrimination and harmful practices against women and girls affect both individuals and society as a whole. It has been proven time and again that political, economic and social equality between women and men contributes to all dimensions of sustainable development. Living a life free from violence and discrimination is a fundamental human right and crucial for people and societies to reach their full potential.
In line with Goal 5, Budi has the ambition to ensure women's full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all decision-making levels within the company. As the company is relatively newly established and currently has few employees, we see this ambition on a medium-term basis.
The foundation of a sustainable society is a fair distribution of resources and economic, social and political influence in society. The guiding principle of the Global Goals is Leave No One Behind, and Goal 10 highlights the importance of working towards a society where no one is left behind in development. An equal society is built on the principle of equal rights and opportunities for all, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, age or other status. Although many countries have experienced positive economic development with reduced poverty in recent decades, inequalities have increased both within and between countries. Equality reduces the risk of conflict and promotes all people's ability to participate in and influence societal development.
At Budi, everyone is welcome regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, age or other status. Our corporate culture is rooted in tolerance, and therefore we give everyone the same rights and opportunities. Budi's core values reflect the foundation of a sustainable society as set out in Goal 10, i.e. a society built on the principle of equality.
Budi's management team shall follow up on the work based on this policy annually in connection with the annual report, as well as through internal audits. Part of this work involves developing a systematic approach to follow-up. Management and the board of directors shall report annually on responsible business in a separate report for external use and/or in the annual report.
