Most common questions in Payment

Payment for a lot must be made before the day of pickup.

There are two different payment options.

  1. Payment is made online via the payment link included in the winner email sent after you win an auction. Using the link, you can securely pay with Swish or a debit/credit card (VISA/Mastercard).

  2. If shipping is requested (see the section on shipping), a shipping request is sent via the winner email, and Budi will respond with a payment link. Once payment has been completed, your shipment will be booked.

When it says excl. VAT, VAT is added to the bid amount. When it says incl. VAT, no VAT is added to the bid amount.

Please note that VAT is always added to service fees.

All items sold through us must be paid in full before we hand them over. Payment by invoice is possible, provided that the payment is registered in our system before the day of collection. Retention of title applies to all auction items on budi.se.

When purchasing items from Budi for export outside of Sweden, additional fees and deposits may apply. These are related to administration, export handling, and—where applicable—temporary use of Swedish registration plates.

Below you’ll find an overview of the most common questions international customers have regarding export fees, deposits, VAT, and documentation.

Is there an export or administration fee?

Yes. For each item exported outside of Sweden, Budi charges an administrative export fee in accordance with our current price list.
The exact amount depends on the type of item and is specified in our official price list.

Do I need to pay a deposit when exporting a vehicle or registered item?

In some cases, yes.
If Swedish registration plates are temporarily loaned by Budi for export, a refundable deposit is charged:

  • 5,000 SEK for items valued between 0–100,000 SEK
  • 10,000 SEK for items valued above 100,000 SEK

The deposit is refunded once valid export documentation has been submitted and the registration plates have been returned.

When and how is the deposit refunded?

The deposit is refunded within 14 days after Budi has received:

  • Valid export documentation, and
  • The returned Swedish registration plates.

If documentation is delayed beyond 14 days after pickup, a 10% deduction for each commenced week will be applied. Deductions are non-refundable.

Refunds can only be made to the same bank account used for payment.

Will I be charged Swedish VAT (VAT-free purchases)?

This depends on where you are located and whether you are purchasing as a business:

  • EU businesses with a valid VAT number:
No Swedish VAT is charged, provided the VAT number is verified and export documentation is submitted.

  • Non-EU businesses:
No Swedish VAT is charged if export can be documented and business status is verified.

  • Buyers without a valid VAT number:
Swedish VAT will always be charged on the item, service fees, and any related costs.

Who is responsible for customs, duties, and export documents?

The buyer is fully responsible for:

  • Customs declarations
  • Export documentation
  • Any duties, taxes, tolls, fines, or fees after pickup

Budi does not handle export paperwork on behalf of the buyer.

Can Budi refuse an export?

Yes. Budi reserves the right to:

  • Refuse export to certain countries due to sanctions or restrictions
  • Cancel the purchase and refund the amount paid if export requirements are not met
